Contact: How to Reach This Reference, and What Is Useful to Send
One address, for corrections and questions about a specific entry. No response time is offered, because one that cannot be guaranteed should not be advertised.
The address
Correspondence about the contents of this site goes to the address below. It is set as an image, so it has to be typed, not copied.
What is useful to send
The messages that change something on this site have three things in common. They name the page, they name the specific entry or line, and they say what is different on the ground now.
- A correction to a location entry
- The page, the entry name, and what has changed: a building demolished, an access rule tightened, a road closed, a business shut. This is the single most useful thing anyone sends.
- A status change
- If a location marked standing has been rebuilt or removed, saying so, with when you were there, lets the entry be re-checked and re-marked rather than left wrong.
- A factual error
- A wrong year, a wrong state, a location attributed to the wrong production. These matter more than they look, because a filming-location reference that gets a release year wrong has failed at the only thing it does.
What this site does not accept
- Requests to add a business. Venues and businesses appear where they are part of a location entry, and are removed on the same basis.
- Time-sensitive enquiries. Whether a park gate is open today, whether a session is sold out, whether a road has reopened; the operator is the correct source and this site is not.
Before writing about an entry
Two things are worth checking first, because they answer most messages. The month at the top of each file is when its entries were last verified; if that date is old, the entry may simply be overdue, not wrong. And the status line distinguishes between a place that has gone and one that has changed, which is a distinction people often read past.
What happens to a correction
A correction that can be tied to something checkable changes the entry and the verification month at the top of the file it sits in, so the change is visible on the page rather than announced anywhere. A correction that cannot be tied to anything checkable does not change the entry, because the standard for a change is the same as the standard for the original: an address that resolves, a status that can be seen, a date that can be sourced. Where two accounts disagree and neither can be settled, the entry says so instead of picking one.
The about page sets out how entries are put together and the four things this site undertakes to do. The location index lets you check whether an entry exists before writing about it, and the site index lists every page here.
Frequently asked questions
How do I report an error in an entry?
Write to the address above, naming the page and the specific line that is wrong. A correction that names the entry and says what has changed on the ground can be checked; a general note that a page is out of date cannot.
Do you accept guest posts or paid placements?
No. Nothing on this site is paid for, sponsored or contributed in exchange for a link, and there is no arrangement under which an entry, a mention or a placement can be bought.
Can you tell me whether a location is open right now?
No. Each file records the month its entries were last checked, and opening hours, closures and access rules change between checks. The venue, park authority or transport operator is the correct source for anything time-sensitive.
Will I get a reply?
No undertaking is given. Correspondence about a specific factual error is the most likely to result in a change to the site, which is the outcome worth aiming for, not a reply.
