I use many travel Apps to help me in planning my itineraries, connecting with other travelers and discovering new places to explore.
The Leaf Canoe App, was introduced to me by the founder, Daijie, after we connected on Twitter.
Some Apps loose their luster after awhile. But Leaf Canoe is one I enjoy both when I travel and when I am home, which helps set it apart from many others out there.
The key to using this App is simple: Leaf Canoe travelers, just like you and me, can create a guide full of ‘leafs’, based on places we have seen when exploring a city; even our hometowns. These ‘leafs’ are photos that we have taken, with a small description, which we add to our guide, placing each photo on our map, exactly where the attraction or restaurant is located.
The reason a map like this works, is a traveler can decide how far they want to venture into a city. Or, what neighbourhoods they wish to visit on any given day, especially when attractions are in different places. By having photos on a map, not only can you see where you can go as a tourist in a city, but you can gauge what the areas look like through the photos that are uploaded before you even get there.
I mean, who wouldn’t want to see Kerry Park’s beautiful lookout over Seattle?
After visiting Seattle In April, I created my first city guide about the ‘must-stop places in Seattle’, covering restaurants and attractions that I enjoyed; as well as using other Seattle city guides on Leaf Canoe to plan my days.
I would not have known about the ‘Freemont Troll’ without using this App, and that was a pretty cool attraction to see!
I plan on creating many more guides as i go through my recent travels, so I can help others planning travels to places I have been.
As the below photo highlights, there are many guides already on the App for travelers to use!
So, if you are a traveler, download the free App!
It will inspire you, give you ideas and make you want to head over for that holiday once you see all of the places you can visit!
